About this experience

Head east from Agadir into the Anti-Atlas for a day of mountain scenery and Berber villages. The road climbs along the almond tree route to Tafraout, a mountain oasis set among rounded boulders of pink granite, with the green Ameln valley and its villages close by. Nearby are the Painted Rocks, an open-air work in which the artist Jean Vérame painted granite boulders in bold colours. After lunch (not included), the way back leads through Tiznit, known as the city of silver, with its ochre ramparts and Berber jewellery workshops, before the drive back to Agadir. The almond trees blossom in January and February, when the route turns white and pink. Your local driver-guide shares the geology, history and culture of the region along the way.

A long day: pick-up between 07:30 and 08:00, back in the evening. Children are welcome, but the day can be tiring for young ones. Bring comfortable shoes, sun protection and a warm layer for the mountains in winter.
