Sidi Kaouki Walking Excursion from Essaouira - 6 Hours

A demanding, rewarding day on foot from Diabat to Sidi Kaouki: unspoilt nature, the endless ocean, animals roaming freely and migratory birds. Leaving the ranch along the Ksob river, you walk through the ruins of the Sultan's palace, over the dunes to the old Portuguese fort and through the mimosa and eucalyptus forest to an old well where sheep, goats, camels and donkeys come to drink; there your guide brews tea on a wood fire in the nomad way. Then on along the beach past a fishermen's village and freshwater springs, up the high dunes of Cap Sim with its lighthouse and wind farm, and down to a sea cave of polished pebbles for lunch with an ocean view. The afternoon climbs to the village of Ouessen above the bays of Sidi Kaouki and Taguenza, passes the colourful boats of the Taguenza fishing port and ends in the surf village of Sidi Kaouki.
