Natural Horsemanship Camp in Essaouira - 6 Days with Mattia Basso
About this experience
A course for riders who want to understand and communicate with their horse, then put it into practice on a real trek. Natural horsemanship trainer Mattia Basso, with more than twenty years of teaching and training experience, leads two intensive days at the ranch in Diabat alongside the ranch team, specialists in horse trekking in Morocco for over 25 years. You work with Arab-Berber horses in the round pen and outdoors on communication, mutual respect, leadership and reading the horse's behaviour, trying different horses and approaches. Then each rider sets off on the horse they trained with for a two-day trek over endless beaches, high dunes and eucalyptus forests to a clifftop camp above the Atlantic, followed by a day of horsemanship in open country at walk, trot and canter. The week ends with a group dinner, a debriefing and an official certificate of participation.

Meeting Point
Itinerary
Shared shuttle from Marrakech airport to Essaouira, welcome dinner, programme briefing and night in a riad in the medina.
Transfer to the ranch for two intensive sessions a day (10:00 to 13:00 and 15:30 to 18:30) in the round pen and outdoors: communication, respect and leadership, working with different horses. Lunch and dinner free in Essaouira.
Departure at 10:00 on the horse you trained with, over beaches, high dunes and eucalyptus forests to a clifftop camp above the ocean. The ranch team handles the meals and the camp.
A day of natural horsemanship at walk, trot and canter along the coast, back to the ranch in the afternoon. Farewell dinner, debriefing and certificates; night in the riad.
Breakfast and shared shuttle to Marrakech airport. For an earlier flight, a private transfer costs 80 EUR per vehicle.
Important Information
Fixed dates: 12 to 17 Dec 2026; 4 to 9 Apr 2027. The camp runs with 6 to 12 participants. It is designed for riders and horse lovers who want to deepen their relationship with the horse and improve their feel in the saddle: tell us about your riding experience when you book. Arrive at Marrakech airport by 14:00 on day 1 for the welcome dinner and briefing, and book a return flight leaving at 12:00 or later on day 6.
Cancellation Policy
Travel cancellation insurance is included in the price, so a cancellation for a covered reason is reimbursed through the insurance.
